Every workshop with Njurgun Nangamai is an opportunity to slow down, connect through culture, and experience the art of Aboriginal weaving in a welcoming and hands-on environment.

Whether you're a school, workplace, community organisation, festival, or family group, workshops are tailored to suit participants of all ages and skill levels. Each session combines practical learning with cultural knowledge, creating a meaningful experience that participants will remember long after they leave.

Workshops can be delivered across New South Wales and are available for small groups, large community events, conferences, schools, corporate organisations and cultural celebrations.

  • Discover the foundations of Aboriginal weaving while creating your own handmade piece to take home. Participants are guided through traditional weaving techniques and can choose to make a bracelet, necklace or small basket.

    Duration: Minimum 1 hour

  • Design and create your own handcrafted piece of jewellery using natural and contemporary materials inspired by Aboriginal art and culture. Participants are guided through each step and leave with a unique piece to wear home.

    Duration: Minimum 1 hour

  • For those wanting a more immersive experience, this extended workshop allows participants to create multiple woven pieces while spending more time developing their weaving skills. Participants will make a bracelet or necklace as well as a small woven basket to take home.

    Duration: Minimum 1.5 hours

  • Experience weaving in a natural setting while learning about Aboriginal cultural practices, local plants and natural fibres. Participants are introduced to traditional weaving methods and gain a deeper appreciation of the relationship between culture, Country and community.

    Each On Country experience can be tailored to the location, audience and desired learning outcomes.

  • Perfect for festivals, NAIDOC events, open days and community celebrations, this flexible workshop allows participants to join at any time throughout the session. Visitors can weave at their own pace, stay for as little or as long as they wish, and receive one-on-one guidance while creating a simple woven item.

    This format is ideal for high-traffic events and encourages community participation in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
